We are probably moving to Colorado because my husband received a job offer to work in Denver.
In the Denver area, Aurora is a good place to live. My brother-in-law lives there.

Gotta disagree with OKIEGIRL. Aurora is NOT where you want to live if you are moving to Denver unless you need to buy a house and are on a tight budget. Aurora is kind of the "ugly stepdaughter" to Denver and is where, if I hear their has been a murder in the metro, I assume that crime took place.
There are some very high dollar suburbs in the Metro and their are some nice neighborhoods within Denver itself. Their are a number of suburbs to the North, South and West of the city… but again unless a low prchase price is your primary criteria their is no reason to look East of Denver.

There are a lot of really great places around there. I lived there for 7 years and moved away 3 years ago and am trying to move back asap.
Boulder is an awesome area, but if you are very republican you might not like it. Not to say republicans can’t live there, but it is mostly democrats. You can bike or walk around a lot of it and they have great public transportation. It’s a college town though so if that or the democrats bother you, you might want to steer clear of it. I personally love it though. It’s also somewhat expensive.
Denver is good but it’s relatively hard to find a good neighborhood right in Denver. If you did want to look into living actually in Denver in a low cost area, check out hearthstone cohousing. It’s pretty awesome. Because it’s a community, it’s very easy to meet people. Most other parts of Denver are going to be pretty ghetto though.
My second favorite town in that area after Boulder is Golden. It’s very awesome. Some areas might be more expensive because a lot of people want to live there, but it’s a great place to live. Downtown Golden is the kind of area where you can walk around to different little shops and restaurants so that’s good for meeting people and also just really cool.
Arvada is pretty cool also. It’s less small town, walking the streets, oriented than a place like Golden or Boulder, which could be good or bad for you depending on what you like. It’s a nice place to live though and you can find affordable living there.
Those would be the top places I would consider. Denver maybe a little less than the others but it is still pretty cool.
